FISHING HOURS: WEDNESDAY THRU FRIDAY – LINES IN 8:00 AM, LINES
OUT 3:30 PM. SATURDAY – LINES IN 7 AM, LINES OUT 2:30 PM.
4. Boats may leave from Palm Beach or
Jupiter Inlets no earlier than 6:30 AM and must return to
their slips or to Sailfish Marina no later than 5:30 PM. Catch
logs are due at Sailfish Marina by 5:30 PM daily.
5. Boats must declare lay days no later than 10 PM the night
before in person or by phone.
6. Boats need only fish one day for tournaments to be
official.
7. There is no weather committee. Determination to fish is at
the sole discretion of the captain and crew, who assume all
liability for their decisions.
8. I.G.F.A. Certified Observers will be provided by the
tournament as available.
Fishing Regulations & Points Structure
9. I.G.F.A. Rules apply except as amended.
10. Only non-offset circle hooks and maximum 20-lb. test line
may be used. Leader length is limited to a total of 20 feet
and neither the double line nor leader may exceed 15 feet,
including knots and swivel.
11. Live or dead baits may be used, but only one type of bait
is permitted in the water at any time. Chumming of any kind,
including with live bait, is prohibited. Backing into schools
and casting from a dead boat are prohibited.
12. No more than six rods are permitted in the water at any
time. This includes rods being used to catch bait.
13. No more than two kites for live bait and no more than two
teasers or dredges for trolling are permitted. Live bait
teasers are prohibited.
14. Fishing for bait is permitted until ten minutes before
lines in, after which no lines or teasers are allowed in the
water until the official start of fishing. Bait fishing is
permitted after lines in, however gamefish caught on a bait
rod do not qualify for points.
Catch Validation:
15. To qualify for points each release must be called in to
the Tournament Committee immediately by VHF radio or cell
phone and be acknowledged. Hook ups 15 minutes prior to the
end of fishing must be called in for release after lines out
to qualify.
16. A release is official when either the leader is touched by
the mate or the leader is wound inside the rod tip.
17. The Rules Committee may request a polygraph test or other
corroborating evidence that would help validate a catch. Your
entry into either tournament implies expressed approval that
you and all anglers and crew members will submit to said test
if requested by the Rules Committee. Failure to do will result
in disqualification.
Point Structure & Scoring:
18. Release points will be awarded as follows:
100 points for sailfish on live bait.
200 point for sailfish on dead bait.
300points for white or blue marlin on either bait.
19. In case of a points tie places will be determined by the
time of releases on the days fished.
20. Protests must be submitted in writing to the Rules
Committee accompanied by a $100 filing fee. Rules Committee
decisions in all cases are final.
General Requirements:
21. Boats and anglers must comply with all state and federal
fishing laws and licensing requirements. Failure to do so may
result in disqualification. Boat must carry liability
insurance.
22. All boats must be a minimum of 34 feet LOA, have head
facilities and an enclosure for the comfort and safety of
observers. The final determination of a boat’s eligibility
will be at the discretion of the Rules Committee.
